Most soilless growing medias are difficult and costly to dispose of properly. Rockwool and urethane-type medias do not break down well and create scars on our environment (see the pictures below of a landfill full of rockwool). As a result, rockwool and urethane-type medias are diffiuclt to dispose of in an eco-friendly manner.

and its detrimental effect on our environment.
SteadyGROWpro is the first soilless growing media to address the disposal issue. The composition of steadyGROWpro is inert; therefore there are no harmful ingredients. In addition, 89% of its volume is air. These two characteristics not only make steadyGROWpro a superior growing media, but at the same time, make steadyGROWpro eco-friendly during disposal.
Grinding For Disposal
SteadyGROWpro can be ground up from its original form to a mass of 11% of its original volume. When ground up or compacted, the steadyGROWpro media and leftover root volume can be safely placed in your trash bin. It is recommended to allow the growing media to dry out before grinding or compacting. Please note the picture below. This picture shows a 36" x 3" x 6" slab of rockwool compared to a 36" x 3" x 6" slab of steadyGROWpro which has been ground up. The rockwool slab itself weighs 533 grams and is 648 cubic inches and is normally disposed of in full slabs. The ground up steadyGROWpro weighs 159 grams and takes up just 68 cubic inches of the space for disposal. The difference in space between the two slabs is 580 cubic inches, which is enough to fill an 8" x 8" x 8" square box.

Rockwool slab = 648 cu. in.
Ground up steadyGROWpro = 68 cu. in.
Incineration Or Bio Mass For Disposal
SteadyGROWpro can be safely incinerated for disposal. For greenhouses with a bio mass system, steadyGROWpro slab media and the entire steadyGROWpro block unit can be incinerated for energy purposes.
