Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is steadyGROWpro made of?
A: SteadyGROWpro is an expanded aromatic-based system of thermoset polymers enhanced with hydrophilic plant-based derivates engineered specifically for germinating, propagating and growing plants. SteadyGROWpro was formulated to be an inert, sterile product to allow for optimal water retention and air flow. It is the ideal media for growing a wide variety of plants including ornamental plants and food crops.

Q: Is steadyGROWpro biodegradable?
A: All materials are biodegradable over a period of time. steadyGROWpro soilless media does break down into a fine dust, and it is appreciably kinder to the environment when it comes time to dispose of. Click here for more information on the biodegradability of stedyGROWpro. Click here for more information on disposal options for steadyGROWpro soilless media.

Q: Is steadyGROWpro compostable?
A:
SteadyGROWpro is not recommended for composting. The testing of the effects of composting steadyGROWpro is underway.

Q: Why are there two different colors of steadyGROWpro?
A:
The neutral color steadyGROWpro is a low-water-retention soilless media. The brown color steadyGROWpro is a high-water-retention soilless media. Your choice of steadyGROWpro or steadyGROWpro H+ will depend on your method of watering. For more details on the differences and on recommended applications for the two types, click the following links; Water retention studies, steadyGROWpro vs steadyGROWpro H+

Q: Can steadyGROWpro be rewet?
A:
Yes! Unlike many other soilless media, steadyGROWpro can be rewet and does not dry out permanently.

Q: Can steadyGROWpro be reused?
A:
SteadyGROWpro could be reused when using great care in disinfecting and handling. However, it is not recommended. For superior results in growing, new steadyGROWpro soilless media should be used when seeding or propagating (cloning) new crops.

Q: How is steadyGROWpro different than other phenolic type products?
A:
SteadyGROWpro was formulated specifically for growing plants. You will find the product to be more porous, allowing for better oxygen flow, creating faster starts and healthier plants. SteadyGROWpro can also be rewet, while other soilless media cannot.

Q: How is steadyGROWpro different than rockwool?
A:
There are three key differences. First, the composition of steadyGROWpro is porous. This characteristic in steadyGROWpro provides better oxygen flow to seedlings and roots for faster starts and healthier plants. Next, steadyGROWpro and steadyGROWpro H+ provide for varying water retention capabilities, allowing growers to choose the most appropriate water retention needs to fit their growing style. Most importantly, steadyGROWpro is kinder to the environment. Unlike rockwool, steadyGROWpro provides economical, easy and eco-friendly methods of disposal. SteadyGROWpro is the ideal media for hydroponics and soilless growing. It is an inert and sterile growing media available in sheets, plugs, blocks and slabs.

SteadyGROWpro helps gardeners maximize results when germinating seeds, when propagating or cloning cuttings, and when growing plants to maturity indoors. SteadyGROWpro growth media is eco-friendly, and is a superior substitute to rockwool or coco coir.
